Instagram chief Adam Mosseri is expected to testify today, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in a landmark trial in Los Angeles.
The trial, being heard in the California Superior Court of Los Angeles County, centers on allegations that platforms like Instagram and YouTube were deliberately designed to be addictive to children, leading to severe mental health issues.
The case, viewed as a bellwether for thousands of similar lawsuits, was brought by a 20-year-old woman identified as Kaley G.M.. She claims she became addicted to social media as a child, leading to anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia.
In addition to Mosseri, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is scheduled to testify on February 18, and YouTube CEO Neal Mohan is also expected to take the stand.
Lawyers for the tech giants argue that the platforms are not “addiction machines” and that other factors, such as family life, contributed to the plaintiff’s mental health challenges.
Other original defendants, including Snapchat (Snap Inc.) and TikTok, reached settlements with the plaintiffs last month before the trial began.
The trial is expected to last six to eight weeks and could set a major legal precedent for how social media companies are held liable for user safety.
