From today, guests at your wedding function will be limited to 50. This is after the inter-faith council reviewed the containment measures against COVID-19. – By Gerald Gekara.
In a press briefing today, Rev. Connie Kivuti, the Vice Chairperson of the council, said the measures were backed by the Ministry of Health and were only in place to curb the second wave of the virus.
For funerals, attendees remain capped at 100 and with the council directing that only 15 people will be allowed at the gravesite.
“”We are asking the religious leaders to cooperate more closely with the national government administrators and security personnel at the local level to strictly enforce guidelines on funerals. We have reached an agreement with the ministry of Interior and local administrators have been informed that they must control the number and conduct of funerals,” Rev. Kivuti said
The guidelines enshrined in the Phase one plan to recovery will remain in place, with service time restricted to 90 minutes.
The age of congregants allowed is 6-65 years while the council urged religious leaders to enforce mandatory wearing of face masks at all times.
So far the country has seen a sharp rise in coronavirus infections with today’s cases topping 740. So far, 80,120 people have contracted the virus, while 1427 people have died since the virus was discovered in Kenya.
