Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen and his family joined the Embobut community of Marakwet East Sub-County to celebrate Boxing Day and for thanksgiving, stating that Christmas season is a time of togetherness with society.
The CS commended the cummunity members for their cooperation with the Government, which has been instrumental in the restoration of peace and tranquility in the Kerio Valley region. Unlike in the past, residents were able to enjoy the Christmas festivities without any security concerns.
To consolidate the gains made in the region, Murkomen announced that the Government will establish training colleges for both the National Police Service and the Kenya Defence Forces within the area.
The super CS also took the opportunity to sensitize residents on the importance of conserving the Embobut Forest, a critical water catchment area that supports numerous rivers in the region and beyond.
“Beginning next year, the Government will distribute avocado, coffee, and fruit tree seedlings to local residents as part of efforts to reverse environmental degradation, which contributed to the recent devastating landslide in the area” CS Murkomen added.
