International Energy Agency (IEA) Picks Kenya As An Associate Member

CS Davis Chirchir on Thursday was visited by Syrine El Abed, the Africa Programme Officer for the International Energy Agency (IEA).

They reviewed the IEA’s decision to admit Kenya as an associate member, plans for Nairobi to host the 9th IEA Energy Efficiency Conference, and particular support initiatives to be promoted for Kenya.

Kenya might gain from working with the IEA in a number of areas, including clean cooking and the spread of LPG. Through recent conversations with IEA president Fatih Birol and the CS at the 8th IEA Conference in Paris, IEA has expressed a strong desire to support these projects.

The International Energy Agency collaborates with nations from all around the world to develop energy policies that will ensure a safe and sustainable future.

According to the IEA World Energy Investment 2023 report, spending on fossil fuels is significantly being outpaced by investment in renewable energy technologies due to worries about affordability and security brought on by the global energy crisis.

Between 2021 and 2023, annual investments in clean energy are anticipated to increase by 24%, led by renewables and electric cars, as opposed to a 15% increase in investments in fossil fuels during the same time frame.
