Prisons Authorities rejects Intersex woman claiming that “Starving” Inmates may take advantage of her.
Josephine Ayuma was rejected by Langata Women’s and Nairobi West Prisons because she is intersex.
According to reports submitted in court, Josephine was turned away by the prison authorities on the grounds of her gender anatomy making the police to keep her in the cells for more than 7 days.
The Officers in charge of the said prisons alleged that having both gender organs could create a crisis as other “thirsty” convicts may take advantage of her to satisfy their sexual desires which have been submerged for time.
Josephine was accused of obtaining Ksh 14,000 from a Kamba woman namely Mueni Mutiso after pretending that she would settle her loan of the said amount a fact she knew to be false.
She was later on arrested and charged with obtaining money by false pretence with intent to defraud. Kibera Law courts send her to custody after she was convicted of the said offence.
