Isebania: Police Arrest Two Over Station Attack

Police in Isebania have arrested two people in connection with the May 25, 2023, attacks on the Isebania police station, which left five people dead and three injured.

According to Kuria West sub-county police Commander Mr.Cleti Kimaiyo, he two suspects, John Nchagwa, 41, and Hamisi Chacha, 39, were apprehended by police who had been pursuing them since the incident occurred.

He told the press that the two would face charges in court for inciting violence and malicious damage.

The two are suspected of leading a mob that stormed the Isebania police station and destroyed property.

Five people were killed during a scuffle between officers and members of the public at the Isebania police station this week on Thursday, according to the police report.

The clash between police and members of the public occurred in response to a public outcry over a period of insecurity in Isebania town, which resulted in the deaths of several business people.

Though the police claimed that the mob stormed the station, members of the public claimed that the police provoked them while transporting the body of a businessman killed by thugs in his shop in Isebania town last week.
