Isiolo County Assembly Disowns ‘FAKE’ Press Release Circulating Online

The County Assembly of Isiolo has issued a strong statement dismissing a widely circulated press release as fake, warning the public against falling for misinformation that threatens to undermine the credibility of the Assembly.

In an official rebuttal released Thursday afternoon, the Assembly clarified that a document dated June 26, 2025, purportedly from the Office of the Clerk, did not originate from the Assembly and should be treated with utmost suspicion.

“We wish to categorically state that the document is FAKE and should be disregarded in its entirety,” the Assembly said.

Further clarifying the situation, the Assembly confirmed that Mr. Salad Boru, the Clerk of the County Assembly, is currently on compulsory official leave and has no authority to issue any communication on behalf of the institution.

The Assembly cautioned the public, stakeholders, and media houses to verify all communications via official platforms, emphasizing the need for vigilance against the spread of deceptive information, especially during sensitive legislative processes.

“We remain committed to upholding transparency, the rule of law, and the integrity of all Assembly proceedings,” the statement concluded.

This comes at a time when growing public scrutiny and intense political activity have made county assemblies across the country frequent targets of fake news and misinformation campaigns.

The Assembly urged the media to exercise due diligence in source verification to avoid inadvertently amplifying falsehoods.
