Isiolo Governor Guyo Blasts Senator Dullo Over Politicisation of Tragic Incidents

Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has sharply criticized Senator Fatuma Dullo for allegedly politicising recent tragedies in the county and using them to discredit public officials.

Speaking during a tour of Elsa Ntirim in Burat Ward on Thursday, Governor Guyo dismissed the Senator’s recent remarks in Parliament concerning insecurity in Isiolo, saying they were misleading and unfairly targeted county and national officers.

He clarified that two high-profile incidents, the death of a woman and her four children in a house fire in Bulapesa, and the passing of a local blogger hit by a truck, were not political but personal and accidental in nature.

“According to preliminary investigations, the Bulapesa fire tragedy stemmed from a domestic dispute. Linking such incidents to politics is irresponsible,” said Guyo. “We must stop using people’s pain to score political points.”

The Governor accused unnamed politicians of inciting the public and using emotional events to destabilize the fragile peace in the region. He also warned against using parliamentary privilege to malign civil servants, including County Commissioners, who he noted cannot publicly defend themselves.

Guyo, who recently survived an impeachment bid nullified by the Senate on technical grounds, used the occasion to urge leaders to seek mandate through elections, not political shortcuts.

“Leadership is earned at the ballot, not through incitement or backdoor tactics,” he said.

During the visit, the Governor commissioned two water projects under the FLOCCA climate action initiative, benefiting more than 100 farmers. The projects aim to improve irrigation and food security, while strengthening community resilience to climate change.
