A 39-year-old man arrested with 160 bags of alleged smuggled sugar in Garba Tula within Isiolo Town was arraigned in Court this morning and denied all the criminal charges.
Hassan Adan Guyo is said to have been intercepted by a multiagency team while transporting the SAHA-branded sugar in a lorry on 1st November 1, 2023, in a private vehicle.
The sugar had a duty value of Sh560,000.
Guyo appeared before Isiolo Court Senior Resident Magistrate Edward Tsimonjero where he denied the charges of being in possession and conveying of uncustomed goods contrary to the East Africa Community Customs Management Act, 2004.
He was released on a cash bail of Ksh 100,000.
