The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has expelled two nominated Members of the Isiolo County Assembly, Fozia Jibril and Amina Omar, citing gross misconduct and violations of party rules.
The move was confirmed by Speaker Mohammed Roba during a sitting on Wednesday, following a letter from the UDM National Executive Committee dated July 14, 2025.
The letter outlined the grounds for expulsion, including failure to respond to party summons and non-payment of mandatory contributions.
According to the party, Fozia Jibril ignored multiple summons to appear before the disciplinary committee and failed to pay a Ksh.500,000 fine.
“The National Executive Committee proceeded under the 2024 UDM Disciplinary Committee Rules, and the expulsions take immediate effect,” the letter stated.
Speaker Roba directed the implementation of the expulsions in line with the Assembly’s Standing Orders and relevant laws.
The two MCAs were among five members who recently met Governor Abdi Guyo after a failed attempt to impeach him — a move seen to have deepened rifts within the county’s political scene.
In a separate development, the Assembly also received communication from the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio coalitions announcing changes in majority and minority leadership.
KANU’s Francisco Letimalo was de-whipped as Minority Leader and replaced by Cherab ward MCA Halima Abgudo. Deputy Speaker David Lemantile, also of KANU, was removed from the House Business Rules and Privileges Committee, replaced by Wabera ward MCA Salesio Kiambi.
The new committee now comprises Speaker Roba as chair, Majority Leader Abubakar Godana, Minority Leader Halima Agbudo, Nicholas Lorot, and Kiambi.
The Assembly adjourned until July 29 to allow urgent renovations on chambers vandalized during a chaotic session on June 26.
