The Member of Parliament for Isiolo South, Tubi Bidu Mohamed, has died while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital. His passing was announced on Wednesday evening
, November 12, by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who described it as a great loss to the country and Parliament.
“It is with profound sorrow that I inform you and the nation of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Member for Isiolo South Constituency, Tubi Bidu Mohamed, MP, who has left us this evening while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital,” the Speaker said in a statement.
Until his death, Tubi Bidu was serving his first term in Parliament, where he sat on the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining, and the Public Petitions Committee. Before joining the National Assembly, he made history as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, a position he held until 2017.
Speaker Wetang’ula paid tribute to the late legislator’s dedication and leadership, noting that he served his constituents with humility and integrity. “As we come to terms with this great loss, let us remember Tubi for his remarkable service and the positive impact he had on our nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, constituents, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him,” he said.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also mourned the MP, describing him as a respected elder and a pillar of leadership in Northern Kenya. “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Today, our nation mourns the passing of Hon. Mohamed Tubi, MP for Isiolo South, who succumbed after a long illness,” Duale said, extending his condolences to the family and the people of Isiolo South.
Funeral arrangements and further details are expected to be announced later.
