A video has emerged showing Israeli border police shooting dead two Palestinian men who had surrendered during a raid in Jenin in the occupied West Bank. The footage shows the men exiting a building with their hands up, kneeling, and one lifting his shirt as if to show he was unarmed, before they are shot after moving back inside.
The incident has drawn sharp condemnation from the Palestinian Authority, which described the killings as a “brutal field execution” and a “war crime.” In contrast, Israel’s far-right National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, praised the officers, stating “terrorists must die.”
A joint Israeli military and police statement said forces were attempting to apprehend wanted individuals “affiliated with a terror network” and that the incident is under review. They stated the men were killed after “fire was directed toward the suspects” following a hours-long “surrender procedure.”
The raid is part of a prolonged Israeli military campaign in the northern West Bank, which Israel says is necessary to dismantle Palestinian armed groups. Since the war in Gaza began, violence in the West Bank has surged, with the UN reporting over 1,000 Palestinians killed by Israeli troops or settlers.
