Italy To Fund Solid Waste Management Plant In Kajiado

Mr. Giovanni Grandi of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation led a group of government leaders in negotiations with Eng. Festus K. Ng’eno, Principal Secretary for Environment and Climate Change.

The Kajiado Integrated Solid Waste Management Project (KISWAM), which will be carried out by Kajiado County and NEMA and funded by the Italian government, was the topic of discussion between the PS and his guests.

The PS promised government backing for the initiative, stating that it enhances the Ministry’s resolve to shift the nation from a linear to a circular economy.

PS Ng’eno promised that the Ministry would expedite the process of preparing the Cabinet Memorandum and form a technical team to supervise the project’s execution.

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) is one of the primary novelties introduced by Italy’s international cooperation statute.

The Agency commenced operations in January 2016, with the goal of aligning Italy with its primary European and global development partners. Its core model is similar to that utilized in the major European countries.

The headquarters of the Agency are in Rome. AICS also has a base in Florence and 20 field offices across the world to analyze local needs, implement development programs, monitor results, and form partnerships on the ground.

The Agency’s mission, according to the law, is to “perform technical and operational activities associated with the examination, development, financing, management, and control of cooperation initiatives.”
