Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was accused last week of orchestrating the Azimio la Umoja Saba Saba demonstrations led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Friday, July 7.
Notably, President William Ruto’s allies, led by digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, claimed on July 6 that Uhuru presided over a meeting with Azimio legislators where they devised countermeasures to disrupt government activities.
One of the ideas floated in the meeting allegedly chaired by Uhuru, according to Ruto’s camp, was the collection of 10 million signatures to unseat President William Ruto.
“After an early morning meeting between Former President Uhuru and Raila Odinga at Raila Odinga’s Kerarapon home today. Azimio convened a secret emergency meeting.
“The meeting agreed that there would be no maandamano in Nairobi and that instead, they would go to Kamukunji grounds and launch the website and public collection of signatures,” Itumbi stated.
