South African high court in Pietermarizburg has ordered the arrest of its former president Jacob Juma after he failed to appear in court to answer corruption charges.
The former head of state is facing 16 charges dating as far back as 1990.
Zuma has successfully escaped charges against him for more than 10 years but this time round the law is keeping close surveillance on him.
The order was issued after he failed to appear in court to listen to his graft case.
His bench of lawyers presented a medical report showing that he has been out of the country for treatment since last month.
Justice Dhaya Pillay cross-examined the medical report presented by his lawyers but the order will still stand and the former president will be arrested if he will not appear in court on May 6th when his case will officially commence.
