Police Arrest 46 Over Attack On James Finlays Tea Farm

In connection with the damage and torching of a police car at James Finlays Kenya tea estates in Bomet County, 46 people have been arrested.

Six police officers were critically injured and hospitalized following the incident at Chemasingi estate in Konoin constituency.

In the Sunday evening event, one guy drowned in the Itare River while evading capture, while a secondary school student was shot by police.

According to a police report obtained by the Nation, the suspects apprehended in the vicinity were transferred to the Bomet police station for questioning before being taken to court.

In connection with the burning down of the police vehicle registration GKB 980T, a Toyota Landcruiser, the youngsters were apprehended in the Kolongei region and the Kapkilaibei retail center.

On Thursday morning, a joint team of regular police and Criminal Investigations Department (CID) personnel from Konoin, Sotik, and Bomet Central sun-counties participated in the operation.

More than 200 youngsters are accused of attacking 14 police officers on duty in the estate where they (the kids) were illegally gathering green tea leaves.
