Siaya Governor James Orengo has claimed the decision to ‘rig the elections’ was premeditated by IEBC.
Orengo, who represents Raila Odinga and Martha Karua of Azimio, claimed the IEBC systems were compromised even before the election began.
“The attack on the electoral commission’s IT structure and system enabled this premeditation. How they handled the forms when they were uploaded and downloaded,” he explained.
According to affidavits, Orengo stated that some forms were staged and then deleted giving a false official result from the ones declared at the polling station.
He added that the IEBC is dysfunctional and incapable of conducting an election.
“We have a commission that is split down the middle, that speaks to a dysfunctional constitutional body that is incapable of presiding over an election that will provide it with the legality that the election requires.”
Orengo stated that the story emerging from the events of the elections contradicts the established provisions in the constitution.”This grievance that we present to you is not a conspiracy theory, nor is it an ordinary event,” he explained.
“The evidence presented to you, what happened, and the subsequent events point to a pattern of constitutional violations in order to undermine the will of the people.”
According to Orengo, the IEBC did not preside over the elections as the constitution intended.
