Jane Kibati Gets Kalonzo’s Nod To Replace Irene Kasalu as Wiper’s Candidate for Kitui Women Rep Seat

Kitui politics received a fresh boost after Mrs. Jane Kibati officially joined the Wiper Patriotic Front as she seeks to replace Dr. Irene Kasalu as the Kitui County Women Representative.

Mrs. Kibati was formally unveiled by Kalonzo Musyoka during the opposition leaders’ tour of Kitui, an event that attracted supporters from across the county.

Her entry into the race is expected to reshape the political landscape as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of 2027 general election.

Speaking during the tour, Kalonzo welcomed Kibati to the party and described her as a strong and capable leader ready to champion the interests of women, youth, and families in Kitui County.

“I want to introduce our next Women Representative Jane Kibati. She shall compete for the seat on a Wiper ticket,” Kalonzo said during a public rally at Katutu.

Her endorsement by the Wiper leadership signals the party’s intention to field formidable candidates in Ukambani and beyond.

Jane Kibati, the widow of the late Major (Rtd) Daudi Kibati, is widely respected in social and community circles. Her family legacy, combined with her own leadership ambitions, adds weight to her candidature.

Kibati described the opportunity as a powerful and inspiring moment after standing alongside Dr. Kalonzo in what many described as the “incoming tower of Ukambani”.

“Standing shoulder to shoulder with Dr. Kalonzo reinforced the message that unity remains the greatest strength of the region,” she said.

Political observers say Kibati’s move could energize the Women Representative contest in Kitui, with many now keen to see how she will articulate her agenda on women empowerment, education, economic inclusion, and healthcare.

Her decision to join Wiper also reinforces the party’s continued dominance in Kitui County, where Kalonzo Musyoka remains one of the most influential political figures.
