The suspects in the gruesome murder of Jane Mwende, a salonist in Mlolongo, Machakos County, will be detained for ten more days as investigations proceed.
Evelyn Wanza Katumbu and Faith Nthemba Kyalo were arraigned under miscellaneous application at Mavoko Law Courts on Wednesday seeking detention order for the DCI to finalize their investigations.
Consequently, the man at the core of the probe, Januaris Musau, was released.
Mwende’s decomposing body was discovered and thrown in a pit latrine in the Mlolongo region after the suspects led authorities to the spot.
The suspects arrested last week in connection with Mwende’s disappearance had previously led authorities to Makongo forest in Makueni County.
The suspects would then adjust the narrative, taking the police to Kiserian before revealing the actual spot where Mwende’s body was recovered.
Mwende is claimed to have gotten a phone call early Friday morning, August 25th, from a person pretending to be a client in need of her hairdressing services at their house. She walked away, never to return.
