The organizers of the Grammy awards have launched an initiative that is meant to elevate black voices in all level of the music industries and that will ensure black people are compensated for the work they do.
Rap and RnB took over rock in 2017 to become the biggest music genre in the USA but only few black executives are in senior job posts in the industry.
The recording academy launched the black music collective in response to the criticism. the #changeMusic roadmap calls for fair distribution of royalties an examination of old recording contracts for potential inequities ,anti-racist training ,annual reports on pay discrepancies and an increase in the number of black people in leadership positions.

The #changemusic road map launched by the recording academy and racial justice nonprofit color of change, said that black contributions to the industry have historically been undervalued.
The initiative follows a cultural reckoning that was spurred by nationwide street protests this summer over systemic racism and pressure on the music business to improve the numbers of black people in its corporate ranks.
Black people ‘have created styles of music’, the culture, the trends and success of this business –yet often they are left unheard and excluded from rooms in which important decisions are made.” Said the organizers
