The Safina party has endorsed billionaire Jimi Wanjigi as their presidential candidate in the August General Election.
On Monday, during the party’s National Delegates Conference in the Bomas of Kenya, Wanjigi confirmed his resolve to running for the country’s top post, thanking his party members for their support.
“I’d want to express my gratitude to the delegates and party members who voted for me to be the presidential candidate. I welcome the nomination with humility, asanteni sana “He stated.
Wanjigi vowed to combat graft and enhance Kenya’s agricultural productivity by transitioning from rain-fed agriculture to a steady irrigation system.
The occasion was also attended by Deputy President William Ruto, alongside some of his Kenya Kwanza Alliance colleagues, including Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua and former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto.
Wanjigi left ODM in early March to join Safina. Since then, he has maintained that he is still running for president.
