Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Anti-narcotic Specialist court has fined two foreign nationals to either pay a fine of Ksh. 30 million each for trafficking heroin.
The two, Ebuka Titus and Kanu Arinze were apprehended on March 13, 2024, following a sting operation at the Nyamakima area conducted by the Transnational Organised Crimes Unit drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
After interrogation, the two suspects directed the detectives to their areas of residence at Umoja and Sunton, respectively, where they found 39.04 grammes of heroin and 25.71 grammes of cannabis.
After closure of both the prosecution and defense case, the court ruled that prosecution had proved their case beyond any reasonable doubt to warrant a conviction.
The Court sentenced them to pay a fine of Ksh 30 million or serve 12 months in prison.
The court also ordered the convicts to be repatriated back to their country of origin upon completion of the sentence or payment of a fine.
