Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama was arrested and taken into custody, moments after chaos erupted at Jomo Kenyatta Primary School polling station in Msambweni. – By Gerald Gekara.
Mr. Muthama was one of the Election Observers at the venue. The polling station was temporarily closed with GSU officers manning the station.
The by-election was largely peaceful, in various polling stations, with meager accusations of bribery and police bias between allies of independent candidate Feisal Bader and ODM’s Omar Boga.
Currently, IEBC is analyzing the tally of the votes, and later on, declare the fate of the constituency which has more than 69,000 voters.
The seat fell vacant after the death of its MP, Suleiman Dori after a short illness.
