Few clubs in world football carry the weight of expectation like Juventus, but new signing Jonathan David wasted no time showing he belongs in Black and White.
The Canadian striker, who joined from Lille on a free transfer this summer, announced himself with a debut goal in Juve’s 2-0 Serie A win over Parma on Sunday.
After a cagey first hour, David pounced in trademark fashion. Meeting a low cross from Kenan Yildiz in the 60th minute, the 25-year-old applied a clever first-time finish with the outside of his boot to beat Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and hand Igor Tudor’s side a deserved lead.
David was withdrawn in the 80th minute for Dušan Vlahović, and the under-fire Serbian eased the tension further, firing home Juve’s second just five minutes later to seal the points.
It was a dream start for David, who arrives in Turin with the task of reviving Juve’s frontline as the club chases its first Scudetto in five years.
For Canadian fans, his smooth transition into Serie A is also a promising sign with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.
If David continues in this vein, both Juventus and Canada could have a star striker in peak form when it matters most.
