Journalist Kimani Mbugua laid to rest in Murang’a

Journalist Kimani Mbugua has been laid to rest at his family home in Maragua, Murang’a County.

Family and friends gathered to pay tribute to the once-brilliant journalist, who worked for several leading media houses in the country before mental illness took its toll.

Kimani died by suicide on October 15 at a facility in Mombasa, where he had been receiving treatment.

Former governor Mike Sonko, who had assisted in his admission to the facility, also helped transport Kimani’s body to Nairobi and, through his Sonko Rescue Team, to Murang’a for burial on Tuesday.

Fellow celebrities attended the funeral some unable to hold back their emotions while paying tribute to Kimani.
