Jowie Set For Sentencing In Monica Kimani Murder Case

Joseph Irungu, also known as Jowie, is set to be sentenced today in connection with the murder of businesswoman Monica Nyawira Kimani.

The highly anticipated sentencing follows a lengthy trial and several postponements in the legal proceedings.

The verdict is set to be delivered around 11 a.m. today.

The sentencing was initially set for Friday, March 8th, but was postponed due to a number of factors, including late submission of critical documents and a change in Jowie’s legal representation.

Last month, High Court Judge Juctice Grace Nzioka found Joseph Irungu guilty of the murder of Monica Kimani, who was brutally murdered in her Lamuria Gardens apartment in Nairobi on the night of September 19, 2018.

The court determined that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to prove Jowie’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

During the trial, the court heard extensive testimony and evidence linking Jowie to the crime scene and determining the motive for the murder. The verdict was a significant development in a case that drew public attention and sparked widespread interest across the country.

The court acquitted former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe, who was charged with murder alongside Jowie. The judge determined that the prosecution had failed to make a case against her.
