JSC launches investigations into bribery allegations against a Judge

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the commencement of investigations into bribery allegations levelled against a judge, following claims that have been circulating on social media and the subsequent arrest of a journalist.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Commission reaffirmed its constitutional mandate under Articles 172 and 158 to safeguard judicial independence while ensuring accountability and integrity within the Judiciary.

“The Judicial Service Commission has noted allegations of bribery against a judge that have been circulating on social media,” ,” said JSC Secretary Winfridah Mokaya.

“In this regard, the Commission has commenced investigations into the matter and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to uphold integrity and ensure accountability within the Judiciary, in full adherence to the rule of law.”

The statement comes amid growing public debate over the claims, which have sparked calls for greater transparency in handling cases of alleged judicial misconduct.

While the Commission did not disclose the identity of the judge or details of the allegations, it assured the public that updates would be provided in due course.

The move signals the JSC’s resolve to confront corruption within the Judiciary at a time when questions over ethical conduct continue to dominate public discourse.
