Judicial Service Commission has recommended the appointment of Seven judges.
The list which was forwarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta for ascension, includes
Hon. Mr. Justice Kimaru Luka Kiprotich
Mr. Gachoka Paul Mwaniki
Hon. Lady Justice Achode Lydia Awino
Hon. Mr. Justice Ochieng’ Frederick Andago
Hon. Mr. Justice Mativo John Mutinga
Hon. Lady Justice Ngenye Grace Wangui
Hon. Lady Justice Aroni Abida Ali
The Katiba Institute sued Koome and the Commission in an effort to halt the hiring of new judges until the six judges President Uhuru Kenyatta excluded from a previous recruitment of 41 were assigned to their positions.
Justice Anthony Mrima had stated during the issuance of a stay that the Katiba Institute and co-petitioners had established the legal justification for suspending the Judicial Service Commission’s proceedings.
The Court of Appeal, however, decided that the lobby had failed to show what harm they would experience if the recruiting process went ahead as planned, and therefore suspended the injunction.
