President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address on Tuesday caused the Jubilee party to postpone the National Delegates Convention (NDC), according to Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju.
According to Tuju, the NDC, which was originally slated for November 30th, 2021, was shifted to a later date since it clashed with the president’s most significant event of the year, his address to Kenyans.
“H.E the President, who is also the Jubilee Party Leader, will deliver the constitutionally binding annual State of the Nation address on 30th November, the same day when the Jubilee NDC is scheduled,”
“Notice is hereby given that the NMC, in consultation with the Party Leadership, has postponed the earlier advertised National Delegates Convention (NDC) of the Jubilee Party initially planned for 30th November 2021.” His statement read
The ruling party’s spokesperson claims there is no truth to reports that the meeting was called off due to the President’s change of heart on the NDC’s program.
Tuju said the NDC is a big deal for the party, thus a new date and location will be announced soon.
He has reassured party members that the delegates convention will go on as planned.
