This comes just a day after Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka announced that Mwaura’s seat had been made vacant after he delisted from his parent party.
Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati announced Tuesday that Jubilee had elected Sammy Leshore to the Senate to represent people with disabilities in place of Mwaura.
Leshore served as a senator for the Samburu tribe. He earlier served as a member of parliament before being elected to the Senate in 2013.
On Tuesday, Mwaura secured a court order prohibiting the IEBC and the Senate from ruling on the political parties Tribunal’s decision dated May 7, 2021.
The court has put a hold on the rest of his suspension until the inter-parties hearing, which is set for May 24, 2021.
