Juja Member of Parliament, George Koimburi has been found alive but injured after reportedly being abducted on Sunday and later dumped in a coffee plantation in Kiambu County.

Koimburi is currently receiving treatment at Plainsview Hospital near Ruiru town, according to his family. The MP’s wife, Ann Koimburi, confirmed his condition and recounted the harrowing events that unfolded outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu, where he was forcefully taken by unidentified men. She sustained injuries during the incident while trying to intervene.

Disturbing video footage circulating on social media shows the MP being forced into a silver Subaru Forester with civilian registration plates, raising concerns about the identity and motive of the abductors.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied any involvement in the incident. However, the agency confirmed that Koimburi has been under investigation since Friday for alleged involvement in land fraud and the misuse of Constituency Development Funds (CDF).

Mrs. Koimburi voiced frustration with the ongoing ordeal, pointing out that this is not the first time her husband has faced unexplained interference from authorities. “They took his phone and vehicle during previous investigations, and now he disappears without explanation. We deserve to know what’s going on,” she said.

The circumstances surrounding the MP’s abduction and subsequent discovery have sparked public outrage and calls for transparency. Lawmakers and civil society groups have demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter, emphasizing the need to protect public officials’ rights, regardless of ongoing legal probes.

As investigations continue, questions linger about the forces behind Koimburi’s disappearance, and whether due process is being followed in handling the allegations against him.
