Police Squashed My Eye: Angry Robber Complains In Court

Robbery With Violence Suspect laments before the court that police officers stepped on his eye after it fell from its socket destroying it completely.

Juma Hamisi Naiseria who is charged alongside Charles Juma Marwa and Josphat Muriasi Ondigo appeared in court today with one eye.

He informed Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi that the other eye fell from the socket after he was beaten by police officers during his arrest. His pleadings to have him collect his eye fell on deaf ears after the police stepped on the eye.

” Your honour when I was arrested I was beaten by the police officers on the head and my eye fell. I requested the officers to let me collect the eye but instead, they stepped on it destroying it completely. The eye was very expensive. It Cost me Kes 120,000.” lamented Juma Hamisi.

The other two accused persons too lamented having been robbed of their money by the arresting officers.

The three are charged with robbery with violence contrary to section 296 of the penal code.

They are said to have threatened force against the complainant namely Silvester Muli Mwongela and in the process, they stole a Tecno Cammon 11 phone valued at Kes 17,500 from him.

They denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and were released on a bond of Kes 200,000 with the court directing the suspects to be taken to hospital.
