Justice For Arshad: Pakistan Sends Top Sleuths To Investigate Murder

Police have furnished a 13-page interim report before the Supreme Court about investigations into journalist Arshad Sharif’s murder.

The report, filed on behalf of DIG headquarters by the capital police’s legal department, stated that the Special Joint Investigation Committee (SJIT) will leave for Kenya on January 15 to bring a clear copy of the result of a post-mortem examination conducted in the East African country.

At the hearing on December 8, 2022, the Supreme Court expressed optimism that the SJIT will provide an interim report on its inquiry within a week for the judges in chambers to review.

The court also stated its openness to assist with ‘honest and transparent’ inquiries into the murder.

Arshad Sharif, a senior journalist and anchorperson, was assassinated in the outskirts of Nairobi on October 23, 2022.

In addition to the interim report, a copy of the first information report (FIR No. 987 of 2022), responses from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, and the Kenyan inquiry report on the killing were also presented to the Supreme Court.
