Kabete: ‘Mchele’ Gang To Face The Law

Four people have been arrested in Kabete for allegedly putting passengers on a bus bound for Nairobi to sleep in order to rob them.

Stephen Odero, Benson Odero, Joshua Orengo, and Harrison Nyamu are said to have boarded the bus in Kisumu on Sunday with the intent to commit the crime.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the bus driver, Emmanuel Barasa, noticed an unusual situation on the bus in which everyone was fast asleep except for two people who alternated positions across the bus.

After suspecting something was wrong, Barasa detoured into the Kabete police station. The two suspects’ escape plans were thwarted.

“But it is the snores reverberating from all corners of the bus that were unusually loud, punctuated by threatening growls that alarmed the driver, who immediately detoured to the police station situated along the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway,” wrote DCI.

During an inspection, the police officers discovered that the majority of the passengers had lost valuables such as laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and money, among other things, according to DCI.

The four were singled out after being discovered in possession of the stolen items.

They were rushed to the hospital, however, after police discovered that they had consumed the remaining substance in order to destroy any evidence.

The bus was allowed to continue its journey, but passengers were advised to seek medical attention upon arrival.
