Businesswoman Agnes Kagure will be now vying for the Nairobi governor’s seat as an independent candidate.
Kagure’s move comes after a deal was sealed at Statehouse on Thursday evening for Polycarp Igathe to fly the Azimio-One Kenya Alliance flag for Nairobi County and be deputised by Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi.
Through her facebook page, Kagure announced on Friday that she had no plans of abandoning her candidature and dismissed the claims as ‘idle rumors’.
“I have no plans of abandoning the hundreds of thousands supporters who believe in me halfway. Our dream for a better Nairobi and a county that takes care of its residents is firmly on course,” she stated.
Kagure also confirmed that her dream of a better Nairobi that is supportive of talents and ambitions, a city that is the envy of other cities, and a county that takes care of its residents is firmly on course.
The businesswoman officially launched her bid on January 7, 2022, also outlining her manifesto which includes revamping water supply and sanitation, health care for all and reorganizing public transport to ease movement.
