Kagwe hints at total lockdown, reports 14 new Covid 19 cases

CS advises Kenyans to make their homes comfortable – By Prudence Wanza

Kenya is hurtling towards a total lockdown over the Covid 19 spread, health CS Mutahi Kagwe has warned. The minister says the war on the virus has intensified and issues a new raft of measures to stop the spread.

All golf clubs, clubhouses, and members gyms were ordered closed, alongside all hotels whose quarantined guests tested positive. Effectively, this means several top hotels have now been closed to new customers until further notice.

The CS warned that social distancing must be enhanced…and warned Kenyans to expect more sanctions. Among the expected consequences is County to County movement which the minister said was discouraged.

“Unless you obey a two-metre social distance…or wash your hands….expect tougher measures”; the Minister said.
Mutahi said the war on Covid 19 will take many months to complete and appealed to Kenyans to brace for the worst.

Kagwe said Nairobi and Coast province are now landlocked…and attributed the 2 new cases in Mandera to movement from Mombasa.
“Mandera is now a Covid zone because of movement from Mombasa…inter county movement should stop”, the minister said.
Kagwe said.

Nairobi has a high prevalence of Coronavirus and the CS urged residents to stay at home to avoid contracting the disease. He said the medicine for Covid 19 is quarantining at home and avoiding unnecessary movements. “Make your homes comfortable…you never know what will soon happen..”, he said.

Hotels that have reported positive people have been asked not to admit any new revelers, in an effort to control the facilities.

Kagwe said all paramedics will be tested for the disease…and treated.
He warned that hotels that exploit those on quarantine must stop or face unspecified consequences.

The minister says it is necessary to tighten up in the near future.
He thanked paramedics, Governors especially Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho for providing support to the Government.
