A Kajiado multi-agency team attempted to apprehend two suspected poachers who were transporting game meat on a motorcycle.
The two accused poachers resisted arrest by speeding when cops halted them at Nasaru Olosho reserve in Mashuuru after receiving a tip from members of the public.
When the cops pursued the two, they came to a halt and chose to wrestle the two officers, despite the fact that they were armed, after one of the suspects managed to flee.
Mutua Mutie, a 40-year-old suspect, was apprehended but continued to fight the officers, injuring one of them in the hands and bruising his face.
He also sustained injuries in the push and pull where he struggled to evade arrest by rolling on the ground dragging the officer on the ground.
Confirming the incident, Kajiado subcounty police commander Daudi Loronyokwe said the notorious poachers got the officers off guard and began wrestling them.
“It is unusual for one to resist arrest by armed police officers but the two adamant poachers were literally fighting for their freedom,” said Loronyokwe. They have a torch with a siren to confuse people and disguise as wardens,”said Loronyokwe.
