Kakamega: Notorious Criminal Handed 310 Years Jail Term

In a landmark ruling, Eldoret Court sentenced a Kakamega man to 310 years in jail for robbery with violence and rape.

Humphrey Shilisia from Shinyalu, Kakamega County, was convicted of robbing and raping people in Eldoret.

Shilisia is said to have escaped from Langas Police Station, where he had been imprisoned, in 2020, culminating in an extensive search that led to his re-arrest in his home area in Shinyalu.

Upon his escape from prison, Kapseret citizens protested over his escape by claim he is a sadist criminal to take hid of leading one Langas Police Officer laid blame on Shilisia’s escape.

The sentence came after a long and extensive trial that lasted for almost three years.

According to the prosecution team, led by Jamlick Muriithi and assisted by Miriam Sakari and Lorna Anguria, the accused was a notorious criminal who would break into the victims’ homes at night, rob them, and use threats of violence or actual violence to intimidate them.

The said that indeed the prosecution had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt that the accused person committed the offenses as per the charge sheet.

The learned Magistrate sentenced him to serve 70 years in prison for each of the three offences.

The sentencing of Shilisia is a significant victory for the victims and their families who have been traumatized by his criminal activities for many years.
