Kakuzi PLC is set to introduce Macadamia Cold pressed cooking oil products and contribute to the National Edible Oil Crops Promotion Project.
This rebranding aligns with the national agricultural transformation agenda, highlighting sustainability and climate-smart agriculture.
During the launch, Phillip Kello Harsama, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Crop Development, stated that the government is committed to agricultural advancement through private partnerships to achieve rapid results.
The government plans to invest over KSh 40 billion in agricultural transformation initiatives, including the provision of sunflower and canola seeds, coconut seedlings, and loans to farmers.
This aligns with the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda priorities.
The new Kakuzi brand symbolizes a shift to contemporary Super Foods production for both local and international markets.
Alongside the rebranding, Kakuzi has launched a range of private-label consumer products for the domestic market, including macadamia-based items.
Kakuzi’s Chairman, Nick Ng’ang’a, highlighted the growth trajectory of the company, mentioning the expansion of avocado and macadamia orchards to meet demand. The firm plans to convert former pineapple fields into avocado orchards by 2026.
Kakuzi’s Managing Director, Chris Flowers, emphasized the importance of the brand’s promise and clarity in defining its identity.
The introduction of the Kakuzi branded range of macadamia products for the domestic market contributes to this transformation. Kakuzi aims to deliver nutritious, responsibly grown, and affordable food.
As part of enhancing shareholder returns, Kakuzi plans to invest in retail property development, creating Kakuzi Farmers Market to sell its value-added products.
The firm is also finalizing plans for a full-scale Blueberries production venture and has commissioned a Macadamia Oil Extraction Plant to meet growing demand and address challenges in the international macadamia market glut.
The rebranding and expansion efforts indicate Kakuzi’s commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and value-added products.
