Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced that Nyali MP Mohamed Ali will receive a direct ticket from the opposition to contest the Mombasa gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general election.

Speaking during a rally in Mombasa, Kalonzo said the decision had been reached in consultation with other opposition leaders, positioning Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, as their preferred candidate.

Kalonzo formally declared the coalition’s backing, stating:

He noted that Mohamed Ali’s track record in exposing corruption made him a strong candidate to lead the coastal county, emphasizing that the opposition was united behind his bid.

The Nyali MP is widely known for his background in investigative journalism, where he built a reputation for exposing corruption and governance issues before transitioning into politics.

The announcement signals early political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition leaders beginning to rally behind candidates in key regions.
