Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper party, has stated that he will not abandon his presidential ambitions in favor of Deputy President William Ruto or opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Kalonzo, who believes he will be on the ballot on August 9, spoke in Yatta, Machakos County, yesterday, where he was anointed to run for president by clergy from the Lower Eastern region.
His affirmation is now proving difficult pill to swallow for Azimio Raila, who enjoys premium support from ukambani.
Raila and Kalonzo campaigned on a combined ticket in the last two elections. His input has been a comfortable landslide from the Lower eastern region.
Since their defeat in 2017, Kalonzo has put a hard stance to never back Raila Odinga.
Clergy members present in the Yatta meeting requested Kalonzo to stand firm and head to the polls.
They requested that Kalonzo begin by reuniting with important Ukambani figures who had defected from his camp, like as former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
“We’re commanding you to take the front seat. There will be no more giggling. Go ahead and reach out to the Kenyans. Bishop Nicholas Ikui of ATG church remarked, “Even the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) should listen and obey you.”
After months of discussion and many deadlines, OKA has yet to choose their presidential candidate.
The principals are squabbling over who is the best candidate to ride the third horse.
