Former Vice President and United Opposition leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly condemned the death of Albert Ojwang while in police custody, blaming what he termed as the “Kenya Kwanza sponsored Homeboys Killer Squad” for the incident.
In a statement released on Monday, Musyoka accused the government of violating human rights, stating that Ojwang was “tortured and murdered” for expressing his thoughts publicly. He said the extrajudicial killing reflects a disturbing trend of state-sponsored violence and suppression of dissent under the Kenya Kwanza regime.
“The cruel execution of Albert Ojwang because he dared voice his thoughts… are the latest heinous examples from the Kenya Kwanza regime saying the right thing in daylight and doing the complete opposite in the dark cover of night,” the statement read.
Musyoka dismissed calls for investigations as inadequate, urging the immediate resignation of Deputy Inspector General Mr. Langat. He described initial responses by the National Police Service as “incredibly callous” and lacking compassion for human life.
Expressing solidarity with Ojwang’s family, friends, and colleagues, Musyoka pledged to honour the late activist’s memory while also warning the government against targeting online influencers. He accused authorities of using psychological operations to intimidate and silence critics of the regime.

The United Opposition, Musyoka added, plans to issue a detailed statement tomorrow addressing Ojwang’s killing, the increasing clampdown on digital freedoms, and the recent arrests of activists including Rose Njeri.
“The silencing of dissenting voices and curtailing of freedoms of speech, expression, and conscience will not go unchallenged,” Musyoka affirmed.
The death of Albert Ojwang has sparked outrage across civil society, with growing calls for accountability and protection of fundamental rights in Kenya.
