Former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka received BBI signature documents from the larger Ukambani region. Speaking during the short ceremony held at his Karen residence e offices Kalonzo declared that as Wiper party they are fully supporting the process and that he will move all over the country to campaign for the document.
The lower Eastern region comprising of Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni gave a total of 450,000 signatures. BBI signature collection coordinator Jackson Kala Musyoka a former Machakos senator aspirant reported that Makueni county had 130,000, Machakos 200,000 while Kitui had 100,000 signatures.
However, the total signature is less online which is yet to be tabulated. Kalonzo said he has always advocated for openness, dismissing the proposal by Ruto camp to demand multiple-choice voting instead he wants a yes-no vote on the whole document. “The ship has left the harbor and the moment is now”, Kalonzo noted.
He reminded Kenyans that the BBI is no longer about Raila and President Uhuru but about Kenyans. He further noted that they sat on the streets, teargassed agitating for change and he will continue to championing for the same through taking a swipe at Ruto for leading Kenyans into the economy of depravity, with the wheelbarrows.
“Constitutions are not written on stones “, he reminded hardliners. Replying to those who argue that Kitui should be divided into two counties he said it’s a process and in the near future that will happen as BBI is not the end. “BBI is not the end of the story nobody should pretend to be knowing Mwingi than us, going forward Mwingi will be a county”, He said
On Constituency delimitation, he said it’s a matter of the BBI schedule and it’s possible for Nairobi to cede 1 and Kitui to receive the same.
