Kalonzo: If we are not careful, all of us will be thrown out by Gen Z

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has asked President William Ruto to address the grievances raised by the country’s young generation.

Speaking at the KICC while attending the signing of the IEBC bill into law at the KICC grounds, the wiper leader warned that Gen Z will wipe out the older generation if they are not careful.

“If we are not careful all of us will be thrown out by the Gen Z because they say they have come of age… you say we are leaders of tomorrow, but we are leaders of now. We can’t wish them away,” Kalonzo warned.

Kalonzo said the country is at crossroads and called for a fresh round of dialogue so that underlying issues facing Kenyans can be fully addressed.

He said in light of the recent protests by the youth (Gen Zs), it was evident that there are many critical issues still affecting the citizens.

“They came in the form of Gen Z but they are Kenyans, in fact they are carrying the national flags, they have done it better than we did,” Kalonzo said.

“Mr President I want to urge that we look at our country afresh, there is no way we can wish away the Gen Z revolution and if we were to begin to be honest with ourselves perhaps, we need to go back to Bomas.”

The former vice president recommended that Ruto speed up the recommendations of the NADCO report, which was compiled by a commission he co-chaired, noting the assent to the IEBC bill is one of them.

Kalonzo also demanded Ruto remove Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome from office after 42 people were killed during the recent anti-government protests.

“Order IG Japeth Koome to resign and take responsibility for the deaths of the 42 young Kenyans who lost their lives because they were exercising their constitutional rights to peaceably assemble, demonstrate, and picket. Mr President, the Army should be ordered off our streets and sent back to the barracks,” he added.

Kalonzo’s warning comes after weeks of protests against the Finance Bill 2024, demanding accountability from the government.
