Kalonzo To Skip Azimio Running Mate Interviews

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said yesterday that he will not attend any interviews for the position of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential running mate.

This comes after the coalition’s council appointed a seven-member team to help presidential candidate Raila Odinga choose a suitable running mate.

“I want to tell all Kenyans that I will not attend the said process. I find the entire thing demeaning to my person and will therefore distance myself from it,” Kalonzo told the Standard.

The interviews will begin today, May 4th, and will conclude on May 10th, after which the winner will be announced to the public.

The former vice president also stated that the Azimio la Umoja campaign knew he was the best candidate for Mr.Odinga’s running mate, but he was involved in an unnecessarily lengthy process that accomplished nothing.

The Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance advisory committee, which was formed to resolve disagreements surrounding the presidential running mate debate, includes Bishop Peter Njenga, Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth, Senator Enoch Wambua, Michael Orwa, Dr. Noah Wekesa, Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa, and Beatrice Askul Moe.

All presidential candidates are expected to submit the names of their running mates to the IEBC by May 16.
