Kalonzo: The Fool In Me Ended Up Supporting Raila, I’m Now Wiser

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has defended his decision to drop his presidential bid in the 2022 election in order to back Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga.

In an interview with NTV, the former vice president described himself as a brand new man and that he was ready to serve the country having learnt his lessons.

“The fool in me ended up supporting Raila for the third time, but that fool is wiser now than he was then. I am no fool. It took some painful introspection and I brought it out before I had to sit with my brother Raila to show him in black and white what we had agreed in writing,” says Kalonzo.

Kalonzo explained how it cost him time and energy to make Raila understand and stand by their previously agreed terms.

“I had to sit down with him and bring it out in black and white what we had agreed in writing and from that time I announced that I was ready to support him and it was therefore the right thing to do. I had to bring it out of the chest,” he stated.

Kalonzo pointed out that even though, people have called him names, he was a changed person and had buried the old self in the previous year.

“The chicken has come to roast and the naysayers who have been calling me watermelon, those issues are behind us and gone with 2022. You are now looking at a new Kalonzo, last year was a buffalo soldier it will now be more than that,” he added.

He further asks Kenyans to pray for him “so that I will not be accused forever of things that I have not done.”

Kalonzo added that he is readying for a second presidential stab in 2027 in the event he is nominated by his party to run.

“We have not sat down as a party. We will call an executive meeting and look at all those issues and develop a consensus. In the event, we are still around and if my party nominates me to run I will run as I have never run before,” the Wiper leader added.
