Kalonzo: Uhuru Is Not In Ruto Government; Stop The Attacks

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday endorsed former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent meeting with President William Ruto, calling it a necessary step for the country’s well-being.

Speaking at the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, Kalonzo emphasized that Uhuru, as a former head of state, possesses valuable experience that could benefit the current government.

Kalonzo dismissed critics who suggested that Uhuru was conspiring with Ruto’s administration, asserting that the former president’s insights could help address pressing national issues.

He acknowledged the official statements released by both leaders after their meeting, highlighting the importance of transparency, especially from someone in Uhuru’s position as Kenya’s fourth president.

“Both issued statements after the meeting because a fourth president stands higher than the rest,” Kalonzo stated, underlining the need for clarity regarding the discussions held in Ichaweri, Gatundu.

Despite his support, Kalonzo expressed concern over the absence of certain key elements in Ruto’s statement, particularly regarding the need for a robust opposition—a point that Uhuru highlighted.

“I did not see similar remarks in Ruto’s statement,” he pointed out, emphasizing that this lack of acknowledgment could further fuel distrust among Kenyans.

Kalonzo also praised the church for its role in promoting dialogue, particularly in addressing the contentious issue of unsolicited gifts. He urged the church to continue monitoring the country’s trajectory and provide guidance to its leaders.

Furthermore, the former vice president criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration for the recent spate of abductions, stressing that the 2010 Constitution mandates a government founded on the rule of law. He urged citizens to hold the government accountable as the nation navigates its current challenges.
