Nairobi, Kenya — Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s party has officially rebranded, adopting the name Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) in place of its founding name, Wiper Democratic Movement, according to a Kenya Gazette notice published by the Registrar of Political Parties.
Speaking during a tour of Ukambani last Friday, Kalonzo said the rebrand reflects the party’s intention to go national and appeal to the country’s youth.
“The party now has a new face — Wiper is going national. The new name will be Wiper Patriotic Front so that our Gen Z are fully included,” Musyoka announced during a stop in Emali, Makueni County.
He urged young people to register as party members, saying the new name embodies the patriotism demonstrated by Kenyan youth, particularly during the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests.
Jubilee Party Reshuffles Leadership, Retains Uhuru as Party Leader
Meanwhile, the Jubilee Party has reorganized its top leadership in a move aimed at ending years of internal wrangles. The shake-up follows prolonged court battles involving party factions allied to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has retained his position as party leader.
Key leaders who survived the purge include Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, Deputy National Chairperson David Murathe, and Wanja Maina, the National Chair for the League of Persons with Disabilities.
New faces in the party leadership include:
- Beatrice Gambo — Deputy Party Leader (Strategy), replacing Jimmy Angwenyi
- Joseph Manje — Deputy Party Leader (Outreach), succeeding Naomi Shabaan
- Yassin Noor — Deputy Secretary-General, replacing Joshua Kutuny
- Pauline Njoroge — Deputy National Organizing Secretary, taking over from Mutava Musyimi
However, former Kieni MP Kanini Kega, who served as National Director in charge of Elections, was ousted, with the party yet to announce his replacement.
The leadership shake-up marks Jubilee’s latest attempt to restore stability within its ranks and reposition itself on the national political stage.
