US Vice-President Kamala Harris was grilled on key issues like the Middle East, Ukraine, gun ownership, and immigration in a recent CBS *60 Minutes* interview.
The interview comes amid heightened media appearances by Harris, countering criticism of her limited exposure.
With less than a month before Election Day, Harris was asked about U.S.-Israel relations, declining to label Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “strong ally,” instead emphasizing the importance of the American-Israeli alliance.
On immigration, Harris defended the Biden administration’s record, rejecting claims that loosening border policies led to a surge of migrants.
She argued that her administration has reduced illegal immigration by half, blaming former President Donald Trump for blocking bipartisan solutions.
Harris also criticized Trump’s approach to Ukraine, warning that his promises to quickly end the war could lead to a “surrender” to Russia.
On domestic issues, Harris discussed her economic plans, emphasizing tax increases for the wealthy to fund her initiatives.
A report by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget shows her proposals would add $3.5 trillion to the U.S. debt, compared to Trump’s $7.5 trillion increase.
Trump was invited to the interview but declined, as he has done in previous *60 Minutes* appearances.
