A group of Ukambani leaders linked to Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja organization have warned Kenyans on voting for Deputy President William Ruto.
Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) said the DP is a protégé of former President Daniel Arap Moi.
“His Excellency Ruto has gone round the whole of Kenya saying he has the Bottom Up plan. Don’t be swayed by this student of Moi or else, we will return to the era of being subdued,” Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua said.
“Wakati wa KANU ilikuwa ni system ya bottom-up, mtoto wa nyoka ni nyoka; ukifunzwa kuwa askari utakuwa unfanya vitu kiu-askari… William Ruto anafikiria ki-KANU wakati wa Moi, Y’92,” Mutua added.
On Wednesday, the two spoke in Makindu, Makueni County, as part of a tour of the area to drum up support for Odinga’s presidential bid in August.
Governor Mutua also praised Odinga’s offer of a Ksh.6,000 monthly payment to disadvantaged families if he wins the president in August.
“I have lived in Australia, America and Dubai. It is called a social welfare program; Each of you for each household will earn six thousand shillings each month. This is a good program”
Ngilu added that the former Prime Minister is in a better position to negotiate good fortunes for the people of Ukambani
“Ukambani region is holding a conversation about the future of our people. Representation, opportunities, resources and shared prosperity is what our people prioritize. With Raila Inawezekana”
